Jewelry Testing

Each piece of jewelry is inspected for condition, craftsmanship and age.

Verification

Verification is completed in a number of ways. If the piece is hallmarked. these are checked for validity, style also should be consistent with period, and type of craftsmanship e.g. hand carving vs machine tooling.

Metal purity testing

If a piece has an assay or hallmark that is verified, if there is no hallmark the piece is tested with acid and/or a Kee gold tester.

Gemstone identification

Gemstones are checked with a UV light and/or a Presidium gem tester.

Overall

The final description is based on verification, metal purity and gemstone verification.
